The comics ads from the 70's and 80's are taken directly from my memory. I vividly remember skipping the comics and letters to the editor to read all the ads. Further, I specifically remember ordering the comics catalogs (Howard M. Rogofsky) and the disappointment when they arrived: $2 for 5 photocopied pages.
I think my brother actually ordered the Rattlesnake Belt Buckle. He said it matched his Hercules Wrist Band. My neighbor Joe ordered the Atlas Body and was surprised that it was just 30 photocopied pages (for a measly $15). Actually, I think the pages were mimeographed, if you remember that. Damp paper with the purple ink and a strong chemical smell...
